Many people believe that nothing hurts more than losing someone they love. But losing yourself is, indeed, the true heartbreak of attempting to keep them. As you give, and offer your love and try to make them happy, you lose sight of your own value. You begin to shrink to fit into their world, abandoning parts of yourself, your voice, your light. That’s the kind of loss that sticks. Love should never cost you you. You’re pretty amazing too — never forget that. Guard that heart, but guard your soul even more. You have a right to be whole, not merely to be needed.
