If we are honest with ourselves,
There are people whose hearts we have broken.
We run as the pieces fall to the floor,
Then turn and run back,
Wanting to help them put it all back together.
We grow angry when they don't want us to be part of their healing project,
Afraid that our participation
Can only lead to the worst,
All while we grow frustrated that they still aren't convinced of our good intentions.
We all want to be forgiven quickly,
Yet want to take our time forgiving others.
