An IITian and a dear friend of mine once taught me this amazing technique
Our brains have an uncanny knack of segregating things into :
- Things that are vital for survival.
- Things that are not.
Things that are not vital for survival tend to be considered trivial by our brain, so it likes to ignore them. The crux is, he said, to trick your brain into thinking that your life depends on what you are doing right now.
For instance, suppose you go for a trek in the woods, and suddenly, out of nowhere, you see a lion and it begins chasing you. Obviously, you are scared shitless and your bladder has involuntarily emptied itself. You run like, well, like a lion is chasing you.
But wait, won’t you get bored after 15 minutes of running ? Hell no, you might think. But picture yourself jogging in a park. The chances of you getting bored are considerably higher, right?
When doing something boring, you must convince yourself that if you don’t do it, it will have dire consequences on your health, career, relationships and ultimately your life.
This technique has helped me many a times, hope it helps you too.
Cheers!
